Freytag’s triangle: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Millenium: Book 2 of 3

In the beginning, The U.S.S Defiant is pulled 25 years into the future, and are confronted with 2 warring factions, one trying to save the Universe, and the other trying to destroy it, at least as we know it.
The rising action, is when the crew is split up, Captain Sisko, and everyone with him are with the side trying to destroy the Universe, and Commander Worf, and all those with him are with Starfleet, who want to save the Universe!
The climax is when Starfleet is furiously trying to stop the "Pah-wraiths," the ones trying to destroy the Universe! The have an extremely difficult time, they must go back in time, and do it in another Universe.
The denouement, is when the "Pah-wraiths" succeed, and Starfleet fails, at least they appear to.
The resolution, is when the Universe is destroyed, and Captain Sisko goes to speak with the "Prophets," although, for a definite resolution, I must read the next, and final book, in the mini trilogy.

CONFLICT IN "THE WAR OF THE PROPHETS"!

In "THE WA R OF THE PROPHETS" every type of conflict is presented.
Man vs. Man-the upcoming battle between Captain Sisko and Kai Weyoun, Worf and Nog, and Captain Nog and Centurion Karon.
Man vs. Self-Commander Arla re-evaluates her view that the wormhole is inhabited by aliens, and not the Prophets, as the Bajorans believe.
Man vs. Nature-The Federation has changed drastically, it's now abandoned its nature in order to try to save the universe, "Human" nature is to survive, above all else.
Man vs. Society-The temporal refugees must come to terms with the future society of the Federation.
Man vs God/Fate-The Federation is fighting the end of the universe, as foretold by religious texts, the Prophets, or "Gods" and the Pa-wraiths or anti gods will fight in order to determine which of them will "Semi-control" the universe. On one hand, if the Prophets win, then nothing changes, and all will return to "Normal". On the other hand, if the Pa-wraiths win, then it will be the end of the universe, at least as we know it!
This book contains these and many more examples of every type of conflict, in literature.

EPISODE V

I thought that Star Wars was a great story. I really enjoyed the use of colour, to symbolize "Good" and "Evil", I noticed that even the colours of the ships were meant to symbolize the difference. For example, the "X-Wings" were almost completely white, The "Millennium Falcon" was a cream, almost white colour, the imperial warships were a darker grey, and then the "Star Destroyers" were a much darker grey, than even the warships. The differentiating colours were also used in the apparel of the characters.

There are also the conflicts between Luke and Vader, himself, society. I also found an odd conflict between Chewbacca and Han. It's almost as if Chewie, either disagreed, or was wary of Han. They were good friends, but often disagreed on actions. Chewie was a bit more wary of Lanod, I think that Chewie, and for good reason, did not trust Lando, hardly at all. The two, Chewie and Lando, did go off to rescue Han, which wet a long way with Chewie!

I really like the fact that Han decides to save Luke. I feel that that act may have gone a long way in Han and Chewbacca gaining a "Family!"

Star Wars as text

In class we've been watching the movie, "Star Wars: Episode V." I've found many themes, often found in a text. Some examples are the ongoing fight between good and evil, in this case, the 'Empire' and the 'Rebellion'. Luke skywalker is on the Rebellion's side, and Darth Vader is the leader of the Empire. Another common theme is "Loyalty." We see the mercenary, Han Solo, looking for luke, out of loyality. Han is wanted for a gambling debt, but stay to help the Rebellion, out of loyality to his friends and their cause.

FAITH

My book relates to faith, at almost every turn, in one way or another. For one thing, everybody must have faith that every one is being honest, either in what they say, what they don't say, what they do, or their character.
On one side, of this 'war', a particular character is trying to convince a group of his friends that "Project Phoenix" is sound, but his "Best Friend" knows that this is a lie, it will fail, they just don't know how, yet.
On the other side, the "Emissary" is being told that the "Profits" are the "False Profits", he is having trouble, because he, now, believes that he must fight to save the entire universe, at least as he knows it.
One the one side, we have the faith in others being put, somewhat, to the test, and on the other side, we have religious faith being put to the test.

THE STAR # 2

The main character in this star questions his faith, completely, because he's been taught that only punishes those who are "Bad," but from his point of view, these peopled were little different from humans, if this can happen to these people, it can happen to Earth,as well!

THE STAR

After reading The Star, I came up with a few questions, How long is the current lifespan? What conclusions does the Captain come to, concerning the star's age? What does it mean?
